The Victorinox Huntsman is one of the best selling Swiss Army knives in the world and it is not by chance. First of all, it’s manufactured by Victorinox, one of the most famous pocket knife manufacturers.

Victorinox Huntsman IIAll the tools are made with high quality stainless steel that will last for years. The spring action of all the foldable implements is very strong. When the pocket knife is closed, it feels like a solid piece that won’t open by accident.

The knife blade comes very sharp from factory. Like most swiss army knives, it tends to lose its edge easily, but it’s also easy to sharpen the blade back to a decent edge. The victorinox scissors are just unbeatable. There is no other pocket tool that I know of that has the same precise, sharp and reliable scissors that Victorinox knives have.

The Huntsman is perfect to carry in your pocket or in your backpack. It’s only 3.5oz and it’s not too heavy or too large to require a pouch. It depends in your needs and what you intend to use it for.

With this multitool you can fix small stuff around the house or take it to your hiking or camping events: cut wood, peel an apple, open a can, uncork a bottle or fix your tent. The applications are endless for daily or outdoor activities.

Notice that the Victorinox Huntsman in the article pictues doesn’t have the usual shiny cellidor scales. The one you see it’s the Huntsman II and basically the only difference is that it has nylon scales instead of shiny plastic ones.

The advantage of the nylon scales is that they don’t get easily scratched and they are considerably less slippery under humid or oily conditions. They don’t have the nice look of the cellidor ones; the logo is embossed on the plastic instead of having the shiny metallic brand on them. Initially, I didn’t like the nylon scales because of the matte finish, but after using my Huntsman for some time, I noticed that I’m less concerned of damaging the finish and it feels somewhat easier to grip when applying pressure.

In reality, it’s just a matter of personal preference. The quality of the tool is identical in the Huntsman and the Huntsman II: the same stainless steel and same quality assurance process at the factory.
